CIOPORA Thanks An van den Putte for Years of Dedicated Work as Crop Section Fruit Chair

Hamburg, June 16 - CIOPORA's Crop Section (CS) Fruit Chair An van den Putte has stepped down after six years of dedicated pro bono work. Building effectively on the groundwork laid down by her predecessor Dominique Thévenon, An has invested great efforts in the CS expansion. Since 2014, when An was elected Chairwoman at the AGM 2014 in den Hague, the CS Fruit has become CIOPORA's largest crop group with over 50 members at the Section's' FruitLogistica meeting in January 2020. An's activity as CS Fruit Chair was also instrumental to attracting many new fruit breeders to CIOPORA.

On behalf of the CIOPORA's breeder community and the CIOPORA Board, Steven Hutton and Dr Edgar Krieger heartily thank An for her commitment. Acknowledging An's achievements, Steven said: "We are extremely lucky to have such dedicated people as An among our breeder community. Our collective success strongly depends on our members putting CIOPORA's messages forward. An's voice and her commitment have clearly resonated with the industry."

Edgar adds: "The CIOPORA Crop Section Fruits is one of the main pillars of our organization, and in big part, it is An's achievement. She has donated endless pro bono hours towards the CS work: organizing meetings, coordinating the discussions on the UPOV Technical Protocols, representing CIOPORA and its fruit breeders in external meetings, and contributing to the Board discussions. She did it with a high level of commitment and understanding of the fruit industry commercial and IP needs."
