Plant breeders, growers, traders and retailers are invited to a webinar designed to help the horticultural supply chain get a better general understanding of how Intellectual Property (IP) works in the sector, how it benefits all players and why all links in the chain need to be aware.
On 10 December, the International Association of Horticultural Producers – AIPH, its magazine, FloraCulture International, and CIOPORA (the International Association of Breeders of Asexually Reproduced Horticultural Varieties) will hold a webinar in cooperation with CIOPORA lawyer member Studio Legale Jacobacci & Associati, Italy.
The webinar “Intellectual Property Protection in the Green Value Chain: Practical Guidance” will broadcast live with two identical sessions: 9 am and 6 pm CET (Central European Time).
In a globalised economy, managing and protecting IP for plant innovations can be a challenging task. This webinar will provide green sector players with practical guidance and essential knowledge about the plant IP framework outlining the benefits of IP protection for the entire value chain and the common pitfalls. Besides Plant Variety Rights, the webinar will touch upon other IP tools, such as Trademarks, competition law and other legal instruments providing guarantees for the fair business practices in horticulture and agriculture.
With this educational initiative, the organising partners would like to reach out to those in the green value chain who are not yet well-versed in the intricacies of IP but whose daily work requires an understanding of green IP and awareness of IP liability.
Leading the webinar will be Emanuela Truffo, a partner at Studio Legale Jacobacci & Associati. Emanuela specialises in contentious and non-contentious Intellectual Property matters and commercial litigation across a wide range of local and international practices. She has developed expertise in negotiation and drafting of agreements such as license, non-disclosure, non-compete and coexistence agreements concerning IP rights and copyright as well as for commercial transactions.
Registration for the event is €59. Members and supporters of AIPH and CIOPORA, as well as FCI subscribers, are eligible for the reduced rate of €29.
